Unmarried Partners

It is possible for unmarried partners in both heterosexual and same sex relationships to gain entry into the UK. An application for an unmarried partner is more complicated than a marriage visa as you must be able to prove that you have been together for at least two years and show that the relationship is permanent.

You should have been living together for at least two years in a relationship similar to a marriage. Many of the Home Office requirements are similar to those of a marriage visa application.

The overseas partner must be at least 16 years old and the UK citizen must be 18 or over.
